Programs | Preventionfocus, Inc. divides its programs into three departments that target specific audiences:
Womanfocus
Womanfocus was founded in 1979 and serves the needs of women and adolescent girls.
Life Skills Workshop Series – Multi-session format allows for in-depth exploration of the following topics:
- Media Literacy
- Anger Management
- Self-esteem
- Healthy Relationships
- Bold & Balanced (Assertiveness)
- Women’s Walk & Talk (Health & Fitness)
Single Session Presentations
- Sober Minds, Healthy Choices (Alcohol)
- Smoke & Shadows (Tobacco)
Supper Club – Adolescent girls attend three-hour sessions that meet weekly for ten consecutive weeks. While learning to cook together, the following topics are covered:
- Alcohol & other drugs
- Setting & reaching goals
- Budgeting
- Nutrition & healthy living
- Peaceful conflict resolution
- Volunteerism
Special Events
- Mother Daughter Escape (celebration of art & culture)
- National Family Day (day to eat dinner with children)
| Prevention Is Primary
Prevention Is Primary was founded in 1981 to provide skills and information to children from kindergarten through sixth grade and the adults that care about them.
Life Skills Program – This eight-week curriculum provides age-appropriate information to help children learn to make healthy and safe choices. Topics include:
- Alcohol and drug information
- Decision-making
- Peer pressure resistance
- Communication
- Conflict resolution
- Character
- Self-esteem
- Healthy alternatives
Follow Through Program – This four-week component is offered in addition to the standard curriculum to students in need of more information in a small group setting. It is coordinated with school counselors and meets the needs of students determined to be at a higher risk for substance abuse.
PIP Partners - This program is for selected fifth grade students who have previously participated in PIP instruction. These students are given the opportunity to serve as peer educators in the fourth grade classrooms, providing the younger students with a positive role model, and in turn strengthening their own self-image.

Teenfocus was founded in 1988 to meet the needs of students in grades 7-12.

Advantage After School Program – Juvenile delinquency occurs most often between the hours of 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. when young people are too often left without adult supervision. During those hours, Preventionfocus provides after school programming to give students a safe place to be where they have access to:
- Homework help
- Tutorial assistance
- College/career exploration
- Healthy snacks
- Opportunities to explore art, cooking, music, computers, literature, physical fitness
Community Programs
